How To Make a T-shirt in 3 Easy Steps

Find your desired image and trace out as many shapes and layers, with as much detail as you see fit to cut out.For all my stencils I use .005 cm Duralar which you are best to buy in a roll. Also I use a #16 Fine Angle Blade of the Excel brand, because they won’t chip easily like the standard blade (#11). Find hard cutting matt as the soft ones will allow your blade to sink too deep. Fine point Sharpies are the only pens I’ve ever used as they wont smear off easily...but will if you need them to.
So, using a 3M spray adhesive, dust the back of the stencil...too much might make sticky globules that remain on the tee, and too little may result in the stencil moving during the next process. Place the stencil on the tee ensuring there are no wrinkles, pat it down to have every detail make contact. Use a foam roller with speedball water based screenprint ink and lightly roll the image through the stencil. Make sure to not water your ink down (unless its old and drying out), press too hard on the roller, or have your roller too sopping, as any of these errors may result in unexpected detail blow-out....no one wants this....unless they do. Use a blow dryer on maximum setting, and heat, to dry the shirt in between layers of ink. It took many runs of my roller to get this opacity on this black tee. Afterward, also on maximum setting, iron the shirt inside out over the printed area for at least five minutes. Viola!

And last but not least is clean up. First the beauty of water based products is not having to use solvents or thinners to get them off you hands, tools, eyes, furniture,or cats. So i wash everything I use with warm water, including the stencil as seen above. Washing the stencil right after your print, while the ink is soft, will relieve any tiny detail that may have been clogged for the next print. This is the beauty of stencils after all, an ability to use them again and again.

Ghost Dog

I was eating two slices of slutty pizza today from Romanos on the corner near where I work, when I thought potatoes are a welcome topping. Irish and Italian together forever (sub reference to the digestive issues of my near future), just a delightful combo and exactly the ingredients that make up Vanessa. Searching endlessly through google images (another dirty habit) I couldn't figure out how to make the connection between how much I love the snack and my lovely lady. When I came upon this dog.....meet Potato Pizza.

Optim Izm

Vanessa, Jill, Jakie and I shopped around at this cheap shop in Tinseltown today, and got some stationary odds and ends. Yoko Yaya 1 2 3 is like an endless miniature theme park brightly lit by the relentless buzzing of the florescence above. While having everything you could imagine, in a real way it has nothing you really need....except some sweet brush pens, and an exacto cutting mat....and some cotton pads...and a heart shaped mold for eggs???
